Weight Loss Thoughts

When I had my weight loss surgery, I never really set a goal weight. My doctor never required me to set one. I figured that when I got to a weight where I felt comfortable I would stop. I would however, like to get to a normal BMI, it isn't a goal though.
Here's is where everything stands right now:

I started at 286.8, that's a BMI of 29.6
Today I weigh 174.0 which is a BMI of 30.1

To have a normal BMI I would need to weigh 144, which means I would need to lose 30 more pounds.
If I get there, that means I will have lost 142.8 lbs. almost as much as what I weighed. I can't believe I let myself get that big, I'm embarrassed and disgusted at myself and I never want to get there again.

This is me in high school (2003)

This is me now. I posted this bathing suit picture because I am proud of what I have accomplished. I have worked really hard to get where I am and I am beautiful!

And Lastly, a comparison 2003 to 2012.

Play Dough Anyone?

This year I decided to make play dough for some of the little's in my life. I decided to do pink and purple sparkly for the girls, and blue and green for the boy. I figured I would take pictures step by step so I could share with you. If your having a bad day and just wanna beat the crud out of something, make play dough, it will get all your aggression out (or maybe just some)!

you will need a 1 cup measuring cup, a 1/2 cup measuring cup, 1 TBSP, oil, flour, water, salt, and cream of tartar. Not pictured: A bowl for mixing, and a pot for the water. Optional items: food coloring ( I used Wilton, you don't have too), glitter, a stick to use for the food coloring, and a plastic container (anything airtight would work though)

In a bowl combine 3 cups flour, 1/2 cup salt, and 1 TBSP cream of tartar. mix together well. Here is where you would add the glitter as well.
Boil the water and add 3 TBSP oil, then you will add the water/oil to the flour mixture.
mix, mix, mix, it will start to look like this:
This is where I start to use my hands, I warn you though, it is still very hot and could be to hot for you to handle so use caution! eventually it will look like this, at this point I rinse my hands well and add a tiny bit more water just to smooth it out.
I split the dough into two balls because I wanted two different colors, if you only want one, then you dont need to do this part.
Now you add the dye and knead knead knead.

If your cool like me, you will end up rocking some pretty awesome hulk hands:

Store in containers or Ziploc baggies and enjoy!

Have fun!

Sara

My Grandpa Pikie

8 months ago my life changed forever. I lost the one person who I knew without a doubt loved me and whom I loved back my whole 26 years, my Grandpa Pikie.

Here he is at his 85th birthday party January of 2010

I guess I should go into detail about my second sentence, the one where I said "The one person who I knew without a doubt love me and whom I loved back my whole 26 years, my Grandpa Pikie". Here's the answer:

I was born to a couple of meth addicts. My grandpa was awesome enough to step in and take me before child protective services did. Eventually he ended up with my baby brother, and eventually a few years later one of my sisters. My grandpa was awesome, He cared about me when my birth parents couldn't. and when he couldn't care for us anymore he made sure to find someone who would take both my brother and I. He was pretty adamant we not be separated. I owe my Grandpa everything, its because of him that I am 1. alive, and 2. where I am today (there where others who helped get me here, but he was the first). I just hope I am making him proud.

Here are a few more pictures of him:
Him and I at 6 months and 1 year
On my wedding day hitting my hubby with his cane.

To this day, I can still hear his name rhyme "Sara, bobeara, fofara, skiddierra, he-legged, hi-legged, ho-legged, bow-legged Sara". The rhymes he made up are one of the things I miss the most about him. I can't wait for the day when I will get to see him again.

Thanks for reading, sorry this post was kind of heavy.

Love and Hugs,
Sara

Christmas Cards

Lets talk Christmas cards:

I used to have my Christmas cards filled out, stamped, and addressed very early, before Thanksgiving early sometimes or the first week of December. The last 2 years I decided to make my cards, however, that never happened, and here I am just like last year, scrambling at the last minute to fill out, stamp, and mail out cards that I went and bought.

I am sitting here in my craft room, 30 minutes and 4 cards into the process. I am frustrated because the envelopes aren't sealing... My thoughts "Oh, good tape, I'll tape them closed". I do this for a couple cards then think, "Tacky! Oh, holiday stickers! I'll use those!!" So I dig them out, "That's better!".

Now here I am, 3 hours later, they are finished! I just have to pop 'em in a mail box. Christmas cards almost didn't happen this year, unfortunately that was the 2nd set I bought. The first set all the envelopes were sealed.. At least these ones were not!

So glad I'm done, and hopefully there's no procrastination next Christmas.
